Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience is the nation’s most innovative and unique show utilizing the works of the Beatles. This amazing band, anchored by brothers Billy, Matthew and Ryan McGuigan perform as themselves and leave the song choices completely in the hands of the audience. Virtual Author Series: Lisa Mendelman

Learn all about the interplay of sentimentalism and modernism in Willa Cather's work! Menlo College professor Lisa Mendelman will examine Cather's depiction of the modern woman's identity in the early twentieth century via Thea Kronberg in The Song of the Lark, as well as how the sentimental aesthetic operates between individuals and art.


Virtual Author Series: Joe Starita

Opera House:

Settle in for a fascinating author talk with Joe Starita about his book, A Warrior of the People: How Susan La Fleshe Overcame Racial and Gender Inequality to Become America's First Indian Doctor, which chronicles the life of Native American doctor Susan La Flesche Picotte. From her hospital in Walthill, Nebraska, La Flesche Picotte treated patients suffering from devastating illnesses such as smallpox and influenza and provided vital care to those whose access to healthcare was stymied by racism and poverty.

Opera House:
Fronted by Mato Nanji, Indigenous plays a gritty, soulful, and rocking blues sound influenced by the likes of B. B. King, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Artist Reception: Sarah Rowe's "Signal"

Join us for a reception with artist Sarah Rowe on Saturday, November 5, at 6:00 p.m. Her exhibition Signal brings form to the voices of animals and celebrates our kinship with them.

Enjoy light refreshments and meet the artist as you view the exhibition in our gallery. This event is free and open to the public. Head up to the Opera House auditorium afterward to experience the rocking blues sound of Indigenous. You can purchase tickets here.


Virtual Author Series and In-Person Book Signing: Lisa Harkrader

Join us in person and online for a special children's literature event! Author Lisa Harkrader will be at the National Willa Cather Center to meet young readers and sign copies of her book, The Adventures of Beanboy, which is the 2022 One Book for Nebraska Kids. Following her book-signing, Lisa will be on hand for a virtual brown bag focusing on the role of children's literature in literacy and educational initiatives. Register for the event here.
