Visit the Museum

No study of Cather is complete without a trip to Red Cloud. The National Willa Cather Center is a wonderful museum and archival collection for academics, as well as the general public. Historic sites like the Willa Cather Childhood Home provide an intimate look at the lived world of Cather and her family.

The Willa Cather Foundation is a not-for-profit organization created in 1955 that owns and operates the National Willa Cather Center and the nation's largest collection of nationally-designated historic sites dedicated to an American author.

The Best Way to Explore Red Cloud

The National Willa Cather Center and many of our historic sites are open year-round for guided tours. Immerse yourself in the small prairie town that is home to the nation's largest collection of nationally designated historic sites dedicated to an American author—the place that served as a setting in half of Cather's novels and numerous short stories.
