The Marriage of Figaro comes to Red Cloud
Cunning, love, deception—all of these elements are present in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. This world-renowned opera will make its way to the Red Cloud stage on Friday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m. thanks to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Opera department. This event is free and open to the public!
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro is a classic that is also strikingly modern. The comedy features two servants who are desperate to marry and consummate their wedding vows but find themselves thwarted by the marital woes of their superiors. Chock full of seduction, scandal, revenge, forgiveness, redemption, and wit, Mozart’s brilliantly woven music will make you laugh, cry, and leave the theater humming some of opera’s most beloved tunes.
Through the generosity of the James C. and Rhonda Seacrest Tour Nebraska Opera fund, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Opera will perform The Marriage of Figaro in English to make the show accessible to all audiences and give communities with few arts opportunities a chance to see opera in action. UN-L Opera is part of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts Glenn Korff School of Music.
