An Evening of Arts and Entertainment

The Willa Cather Foundation is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Willa Cather's O Pioneers! with a special evening in Omaha featuring an art auction and O Pioneers! entertainment.

The Willa Cather Foundation Art Auction will take place Saturday, October 12th at 5:30 p.m. at the historic Omaha Building, 1650 Farnam Street. The silent auction includes visual art in many medium and a selection of work from artists who live in Red Cloud, Nebraska, Cather's hometown, and from across the state and elsewhere. Two limited-edition prints from the late John Bergers, who recreated many scenes from Cather's novels on canvas, will also be available.

Participating artists include Bart Vargas, Steve Joy, Craig Roper, Tim Guthrie, Scott Blake, Mads Anderson, Daniel Boylan, Colin Conces, Corey Broman, Bill Hoover, Shea Wilkinson, Mary Ann Strandell, Ying Zhu, Mary Zicafoose, Deb Kubik, Jeremy Daniels, Amy Springer, Travis Hencey, Gesine Janzen, Barb Kudrna, David McCleery, Jorn Olsen, Betty Kort, Linda Stych, Antoinette Turnquist and Dustin Witte, among others.

Also in the auction will be three framed, limited edition O Pioneers! posters and a number of Cather-themed gift baskets. Fans of the novelist can also purchase a 2014 Cather calendar, Cather cookbooks, and posters. The auction is open to the public.

Omaha slam poets, Rebecca Lowry and Andrew Ek--who is also the Education Director for the Nebraska Writers' Collective--will perform pieces inspired by the book.

Tickets for the Art Auction are $35 for guests younger than 35 and $75 for all others. Patron tickets are $250 and include a one year Willa Cather Foundation membership.
