As we celebrate the 100th publication anniversary of Willa Cather's O Pioneers!, the Willa Cather Foundation is proud to announce the winners of the O Pioneers! Essay Contest. We received a number of excellent submissions and would like to recognize our 11th and 12th grade winners and runners-up:
11th Grade:
1st Place: Haley Justmann, Dodgeland High School

12th Grade:

Essay Contest Announced
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the publication of Willa Cather's O Pioneers!, the Willa Cather Foundation is offering students an opportunity to explore their roots from a hundred years ago. In an essay of 750 words, we invite 11th and 12th grade students to describe for us their connection to the land and the people who shaped the history of our land, our pioneers. Student entries are being accepted for English or Social Studies essays; please consult the contest poster for topics and submission guidelines.
