Call for Submissions: Creative Works Inspired by My Ántonia

Sarah Orne Jewett once wrote to Willa Cather that “the thing that teases the mind over and over for years, and at last gets itself put down rightly on paper—whether little or great, it belongs to Literature.”

If Cather’s My Ántonia has ever teased your mind, the Willa Cather Review is looking for writers and artists—either apprentices or masters—who may have found creative inspiration from this novel.

2018 is the centenary of the publication of My Ántonia. To celebrate this anniversary, the Willa Cather Review is devoting each of its 2018 issues to this iconic work, to its living appeal, and to its inexhaustibility as a leading classic of American literature.

Our final issue of 2018 will be devoted to new creative work responding to or inspired by My Ántonia. The connection can be close and literal, or distant and abstract, as pleases the author. We seek a wide range of works and genres including flash, micro and short fiction, poetry, personal essay, graphic and fan fiction, memoir, or a literary form of your own invention.

Please address inquiries to editor@willacather.org.

Submission deadline: July 15, 2018.
