In the Country of the Kaw

Virtual Author Series: Jim Locklear

Author Series
- CT

Prepare for spring with author Jim Locklear! Jim will join us to talk about his book, In the Country of the Kaw, a personal account of the natural and cultural wonders of the watershed of the Kaw (Kansas) River, which arises on the High Plains of Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska and joins the Missouri River in Kansas City. The book deals with geology, landforms, woodlands, prairies, wildlife, and other aspects of natural history of the region, as well as how people past and present have interacted with the land.

This lively discussion will highlight the environmental and ecological setting of Red Cloud and Willa Cather's prairie writings within the broader context of the Kaw River watershed and central Great Plains.

This event is free with online registration.

The views expressed in this program are not necessarily the views of the Willa Cather Foundation.
