Opera Soprano, Sarah Arneson

Opera House

Red Cloud Opera House
413 North Webster Street
Red Cloud, NE 68970
United States

World-renowned opera soprano and Red Cloud native Sarah Arneson returns Saturday, October 3, for a 7:00 pm performance. Arneson, accompanied by her husband, pianist George Kern, will perform operatic pieces from composers who were alive during Willa Cather's lifetime. The duo has selected opera arias from two of her favorite composers, Puccini and Verdi. The libretto to a third aria by Weill was written by Langston Hughes, the famous Kansas American poet, who corresponded with Cather.

Arneson and Kern will perform songs and piano music of Brahms and Liszt, as well as arias from Weill's Street Scene, Puccini's Madama Butterfly and Mozart's "Bella mia fiamma."

Sarah Arneson has been an Associate Professor of Voice at many prestigious educational institutions across the United States.  She has been a regular soloist in the opera houses of Berlin, Cologne, Dresden, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich, and Stuttgart.  She has appeared with the Boston and Detroit Operas and was a soloist in the world premier of Pulitzer Prize winner William Bolcom’s Songs of Innocence and Experience. Sarah also founded an award-winning chamber opera program for young singers with stage director Marc Andre Angelini.
