Focusing on Nebraska’s landscapes and native wildlife, Hastings photographer Jorn Olsen has captured the raw and natural beauty of the state with a click of the camera. From the Sandhill crane migration on the Platte River to the vivid colors of an autumn sunset over the Willa Cather Memorial Prairie, Olsen creates magnificent images of Nebraska’s natural assets.
With his work gracing the pages of several notable publications including Nebraska Life, Readers Digest International, Focus Magazine, and The London Times, Olsen continues to share his passion for the outdoors with people across the world. In 2011, he also published a book containing his work entitled Across a Wide Horizon: Discovering the Uncommon Beauty of Nebraska’s Plains.
“For me, photography is an adventure where new experiences, places, and the unfolding of artistic vision are all gathered and synthesized while traveling on the road of discovery and personal growth. Capturing a moment in time that emphasizes the beauty and mystery of the natural world is an experience that I hope to never grow tired of,” said Olsen on his approach to his craft.
Olsen’s work will be on view in the Red Cloud Opera House Gallery from March 16 through May 3, 2015. An artist reception will be held on Saturday, May 2 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. prior to a production of Catherland:The Musical at the Red Cloud Opera House.
