Artist and filmmaker Michael Burton exhibits animated scenes of Willa Cather's short story of the same name, as well as the physical objects themselves used to create the scenes. In a show that pulls back the curtain to reveal the artist's processes, A Gold Slipper is unique in its handling of material culture in its broadest sense—not just the objects and ornaments that create the world of Cather's stories, but the music, the motion, and the media used to convey the messages within the story. This exhibit is part of our virtual 65th annual Spring Conference offering. A Gold Slipper was developed with support from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Cather Project.

As a part of our 65th annual Spring Conference and with support from Humanities Nebraska, Burton joined us for a live artist's talk and Q&A session.
