Ken Anderson was born and raised in Nebraska, and as a youth, enjoyed drawing and painting, receiving several awards for his artwork. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a focus in Architecture and graduated with a degree in Business. He went on to own Anderson’s Kitchens where his talent as an artist was used in hand-rendered drawings for the beautiful custom kitchens he designed, winning three national awards for his creativity.

Although he has no formal training in art, he has long enjoyed making freehand pencil sketches. When the opportunity arose to show his work at the Red Cloud Opera House, Ken was eager to renew his familiarity with the area. Ken said, “We visited Red Cloud many years ago with friends who had an avid interest in Willa Cather. I was intrigued with the architecture of the homes, public buildings, and local relics, some of which became the inspiration for this collection of drawings.”

Anderson recently spent time in Europe capturing the beauty and the architectural history of cities and villages with his pencil and pad. These works will be on display alongside his work from the Willa Cather project, which includes her childhood home, the Episcopal Church she attended, and eight other sites.

Along with his wife, Linda, Ken owns Task Lighting Corporation and lives in Kearney, Nebraska.
