Red Cloud Opera House

United States

African Culture Connection endeavors to promote understanding of Africa's unique place in the world through drumming, dancing, and visual arts. The group promotes unity and multiculturalism while offering audience members fun, social, and physical activities.

Executive Director Charles Ahovissi, formerly of the Ballet National of Benin, West Africa, creates an authentic African village ambiance, utilizing traditional costume and instruments to teach history, music, art, and dance. Thus, the group provides a multicultural experience through a truly hands-on interaction with African culture.

We will be streaming a pre-recorded performance on Saturday, October 17, and will share the private link for viewing with paid ticket holders. An encore presentation in the Opera House, along with live Zoom sessions with the artists, will be scheduled at a later date.

For educators, students, and the general public, there will also be a free Zoom Q&A about African Culture Connection's lesson plan materials scheduled at a later date. To participate remotely, please fill out this brief Google form and we will send you a link to the Q&A. Please contact Rachel Olsen, Education Coordinator, at rolsen@willacather.org or (402) 746-2653 with any additional questions.
