Nebraska Writers Guild to host Retreat at Cather Second Home

The Nebraska Writers Guild is pleased to announce its first annual Summer Poetry Retreat to be held June 10th-12th, 2016 at the Willa Cather Second Home in Red Cloud, Nebraska. Registration must be completed at nebraskawriters.org by June 7th, 2016.

The retreat will offer participants the opportunity to work on personal projects, receive feedback and interact with aspiring and veteran poets. Participants will also have the opportunity to present their work-in-progress or published work.

This intensive retreat is being led by award-winning poet Dr. Laura Madeline Wiseman and is open to both members and non-members of the Nebraska Writers Guild. Laura Madeline Wiseman’s recent books are An Apparently Impossible Adventure (BlazeVOX [books]), Wake (Aldrich Press), and Leaves of Absence: An Illustrated Guide to Common Garden Affection (Red Dashboard). Her collaborative book Intimates and Fools with Sally Deskins is an Honor Book for the 2015 Nebraska Book Award. She holds a doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and has received an Academy of American Poets Award, a Mari Sandoz/Prairie Schooner Award, and the Wurlitzer Foundation Fellowship. She teaches at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and at 24 PearlStreet, the Fine Arts Work Center’s online writing program.

The public is invited to a reading on Sunday June 12th from 10-11 a.m. at the Willa Cather Second Home.
